The joined session at the Annual Congress of the Panamerican Trauma Society in Maceio, Brazil (November 2016) was exciting. The congress location was beautiful, a lot of colleagues participated, the meeting was extremely well organized and new interesting data were presented. The joined session specifically treated Acute Care Surgery and Open Abdomen with the presentation of the preliminary results from the International Register of Open Abdomen (IROA).
