We hope that this message finds you all well and in good health, despite the tough time we are living in.
In starting a new year as WSES members, we cannot but highlight how our profession as emergency surgeons has been influenced by transformative challenges. While some of such challenges have slowly transformed surgery in the last decades, such as the technological shifts, others have hit the entire system, forcing us all to adapt rapidly.
2020 was a challenging year, which undermined several principles of our job. While some trends already in place have been exacerbated, new needs and requirements have emerged, changing the way we work in our emergency surgery teams.
To have a better picture of the issues and tentative solutions to address these challenges, we, as WSES, decided to develop a research project involving you all. We built a questionnaire about team dynamics, and we kindly ask you to answer the questions posed. The whole survey will take no more than 15 minutes.
The survey can be found at the following link:
The survey will stay open until 01, 03, 2021.
We do know that your time is valuable. As partial compensation, we would like to offer the respondents the possibility to be included in a study group, which will participate in the scientific paper analyzing the survey’s results. Should you wish to join the Team Dynamics Study Group, just answer “yes” to the first question and type your email address. You will be recontacted to get the necessary data.
We do thank you for your continuous support and contribution to our research and to our scientific society, and we wish you a happy New Year, full of joy and achievements.
